Collection: Enotie Ogbebor 🇳🇬
Enotie Ogbebor is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose love for art, culture and history started from childhood, when he moulded with clay and sketched voraciously. His interest in art was piqued by his travels to ancient Egypt, Greece and Ethiopia and also his childhood visits to various Museums in Africa, Europe and the United States of America where he saw first-hand some of the wonders of the world. He has delivered papers at Cambridge University and the Royal Art Academy, United Kingdom, and has given extensive interviews to make his views on the restitution of the Benin Bronzes and the importance of culture and art in the development of all peoples. Enotie has been an activist in the agitation for the restitution of African art held in foreign museums. He collaborated with Sir David Adjaye, MBE and others on the design and establishment of the Museum of West African Art (EMOWAA) in Benin City. He has had his works exhibited in Europe, United States and China. His works are in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Netherlands and the British Museum, United Kingdom. He is a visiting Fellow of Cambridge University and a fellow of the DAAD artist Residency Program in Berlin. In 2022, Enotie was announced as Artist in residence at the Cambridge University for 2022/23 and to open his solo exhibition at the British museum in July 2023.
