Akintoye Segun-Shiigo (b.1981) is a Nigerian artist, whose practice revolves around abstract expressionism. His works are not derived from the visible world and instead emphasize unrestricted, spontaneous,and emotional expression by applying unbound freedom of technique and execution.His pieces abandon predictably structured composition and instead are guided by an experimentation with texture, colour and composition existing in an amorphous space. Shiigo anchors with a coloured canvas textured with impulsive and heavy strokes overlaid with a web of interrelated pigments.
